Why Composite Decking?
Frequently Asked by Our Customers
Super Deck is made from a combination of polymer and wood fibers and manufactured to look like real wood decking. The best quality composite deck is made from finest wood fibers that polymer can better mix with and protect.
Composite decking is well known as its long lifespan. Since the polymer protects the wood fibers from the elements, composite decking isn’t prone to rotting, decay, or termite damage. It also won’t fade or wear down from constant exposure to the sun and cold temperatures. Super Deck offers 10-15 years warranties to our clients, but the actual lifespan is even much longer.
Composite Deck is an ideal substitute material of natural timber. Anywhere you would previously have used timber, such as decks, around pools and spas, boardwalks, park area, school playground, etc.
Solid boards, as the name suggests, are made of solid material, while hollow boards feature ribbed centers. Each provides a strong, durable and easy-to-maintain decking material. If you want to work with lighter-weight materials, you could benefit from hollow boards, which weigh considerably less than their solid counterparts. You might have an easier time transporting and positioning the boards, as well.
Grooved deck boards have channels that run the length of the board on both sides. These channels enable the boards to be installed using hidden deck fasteners. Ungrooved boards have solid edges and are installed with nails drilled into the top of the board.
Super Deck has hidden fasten system clips, including starter clips and joining clips, which means clients don’t need to drill a single screw on top of deck board.
Super Deck requires minimal maintenance. Regularly clear off any debris like leaves, dirt, and dust. Give your deck a more thorough clean at least twice a year using just a brush, hose, and mild household cleaner Composite decking doesn’t require staining, waterproofing, or sealing.
We don’t recommend customers to stain or paint on top of composite deck, because it will void all warranties as these products will ultimately peel and fall off.
Composite decking does expand and contract as temperatures rise and fall, and the exact amount depends on the difference between the temperature during installation and your local area’s maximum temperature. In general, allow 3/16 inch to 1/4-inch gaps between boards to allow for expansion and contraction as well as to let dirt and water flow away naturally.
Super Deck hidden fasten clips will allow a minimum 5mm gap between composite boards (side to side) to ensure proper drainage and ventilation and to assist with the removal of small organic debris.
Yes, Super Deck can be installed over an existing substructure if the following conditions are met: The existing framework must be free of any damage or decay and in good, workable condition;
The joists must be spaced correctly; There must be adequate cross ventilation and unobstructed airflow under 50% of the deck.
Super Deck has solid fascia board with matched colors to cover the hollow end of deck board and give you deck a finishing touch.
Any standard power saws and drills is enough to do composite deck installation job. As with using any power tools, safety glasses and face masks should be used when cutting or drilling Super Deck. This type of decking also accepts nails and screws like real wood.
We recommend our clients to keep Super Deck products in a dry, flat and clean area under roof. It has more chance for mould spores to grow in wet area. When moving products around, always hold deck on its edges with care.
